A Singer, Songwriter and Performer, Ify Otuya studied Music Performance and Production at the prestigious London Centre of Contemporary Music, where she received tuition from some international names including Toby Baker (Sinead O’connor, B.B King), Sid Gauld (Incognito), Pete Zeldman (Jaco Pastorius), Richie Stevens (Jay-Z), and played with the legendary Pee Wee Ellis and Fred Weseley (James Brown).

Based in London, she’s written, recorded and toured the UK with musicians including Folk-Soul sensation Whateverland, and Contemporary vocal group Souls of Prophecy Gospel Choir (Prince’s Trust Fund). She’s also been visible at different times, in circles within the Nigerian music industry (Felabration, Star Trek).

In 2010, she released her debut EP – “The Eclectic Definition of Miss O” [E.D.M.O], for which she journeyed to Nigeria (West Africa) to explore ways to combine African poly-rhythms with the melodic and emotive inflections of R&B.

What sets this talented afro-bohemian girl apart is her ability to effortlessly combine the earthiness of her roots with the essences of contemporary culture. There is experience, relevance, and diversity that come through in her music.

I AM CAMERON PEOPLES CAM FOR SHORT, HERE’S MY STORY. I WAS BORN JUNE 14 1989 IN WINSTON SALEM NORTH CAROLINA. WHEN I WAS FIVE YEARS OLD I REMEMBER LISTENING TO THE RADIO FOR HOURS LEARNING THEIR LYRICS AND RECITING THEM TO MY PEERS. I DID NOT KNOW WHAT THEY MEANT BUT I FELLED IN LOVE WITH HIP HOP. THE WHOLE SOUND AND LIFE STORIES AMAZED ME. I WAS ABLE TO REMEMBER PEOPLE RAPS THAN TELLING THE TEACHER WERE THE BLOCKS GO. ITS FUNNY BACK THAN HIP HOP WAS MY TO GET AWAY FROM THE WORLD. WHEN I WAS EIGHT I WAS TELLING THESE STORIES I HAVE TO OTHERS AND IT CAME OUT IN FORM OF A RAP AND PEOPLE LIKED IT. SO I STARTED TO WRITE STORIES NOT LYRICS ROUND THE AGE OF NINE AND ABLE TO RECITE THEM IN A WAY PEOPLE WAS MOVED ABOUT IT. PEOPLE TOLD BACK THAN I NEED TO STICK TO RAPING, BUT I REALLY AIN’T TAKE IT THAT SERIOUS. I BOUGHT FRUITY LOOPS AND START MAKING BEATS AND BEATS AND BEATS. I ALWAYS HAD FRUITY LOOPS demo WHEN I WAS YOUNGER BUT COULD NOT USE IT RIGHT. I GOT SO GOOD WITH MAKING BEATS I TOLD MYSELF I WANNA TELL MY STORY TO MILLIONS OF PEOPLE IN A WAY THEY WOULD UNDERSTAND AND ENJOY IT. I WAS DOING GOOD AT IT, BUT STILL LIVING ANOTHER LIFE OF CRIME AND IT CAUGHT UP TO ME I HAD TO GO TO JAIL. IN JAIL I TOLD MYSELF THIS IS IT I GOTTA MAKE THIS MUSIC WORK CAUSE I CANT BE IN HERE ALL MY LIFE. SEE MOST PEOPLE DO MUSIC CAUSE THEY WANNA GET RICH AND LIVE THIS LIFE THAT IS NOT NECESSARY. IM SCHOOL NOW TO BECOME SOMETHING. FOR ME I LOVE HIP HOP, I DO NOT DO IT TO BECOME THE BEST RAPER ALIVE. I DO IT CAUSE I LOVE IT, LIVE IT AND WOULD NOT DARE TO ABUSE IT IN THAT WAY. IF I BLOW UP THATS KOOL, IF NOT IM JUS HAPPY TO EXPRESS MY SELF IN WAYS PEOPLE WOULD REMEMBER ME BY.SO WITH ALL THAT SAID I WANT YOU TO KNOW THE MUSIC YOU HEAR IS MY LIFE AND SOUL. I HOPE YOU ENJOY IT AND I THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING ME, ONE LOVE.

Major label promotion – major music promotion – Independent artist promotion

Are you looking for promotions with all the quality of a major label, but lack the necessary connections? Do you have or have you had a promotion & marketing team that just cannot connect the dots?Have you had someone promise you radio airplay without delivering on that promise?

Are you looking for a team that can help you fix what a past promotion team has already done or simply looking to avoid the pitfalls that you have seen others fall into?

Are you a developing talent who:

  • - Has reached a plateau in the industry
  • - Seeks new/broader markets
  • - Is interested in more brand partnerships/sponsors?

If so we have exactly what you’re looking for! Our team is comprised of major label veterans in promotion, marketing, and A&R. Over the past 4 years we’ve been helping hundreds of artists, managers and labels succeed in an industry that is changing so rapidly, it’s nearly impossible to stay ahead of the curve.
Our goal at Major Label Promotions is to provide more than what a label provides an artist. The “labels” have been notorious at providing promotion and marketing to artists without involving them in what’s happening behind the scenes. Generally the artist is told, “Just be creative and let the label handle the business.” While the artist does need to be creative, an understanding of its business is the key to long term success. The artist is the driving force behind its business and should know about and understand it.

Most of today’s labels, managers and artists outside of the “Major” landscape are simply lacking the necessary tools to effectively develop themselves in an ultra-competitive marketplace.  We give our clients access to all the resources a major label would provide in a personal, more transparent manner. Unlike the major labels, we keep our clients well-informed. We provide a more comprehensive set of services and keep our clients informed as to how and why they are utilized.

“We have so many years of experience working with some of the biggest names in the industry and many amazing artists the majors let fall through the cracks. The music industry in the digital age is a results-oriented industry. The only way to come out ahead as an independent artist or label is with a very lean, innovative and tenacious team of music industry experts. It hasn’t been an easy task to assemble such a great team of executives who can produce results and do so in a cost-effective manner, but I’m proud to say we have done it.” – Co-Founder and Label Promotion Veteran Erik Baker

ELEKTRICA

ELEKTRICA

Photo

ELEKTRICA is a new American singer-songwriter artist on the STBN Records label.

The Early Years

Elektrica showed musical promise from the age of three, learning to sing and playing many musical instruments, eventually focusing on the piano. By the age of sixteen she was the leader of a youth musical theater, working as director, composer, choreographer and designer. Her passion however was, and remains, to sing, and she eventually graduated Music College as a trained mezzo-soprano. She then turned from a promising career in opera and expanded into popular music, incorporating techno, pop and rock into her repertoire.

The next few years Elektrica spent exploring the world, immersing herself in different arts and cultures, meeting people, learning languages and developing as a songwriter and a musician.

The Present

The Elektrica project began in earnest in 2009 in the heart of Manhattan. This exciting new phenomenon incorporates a global network of contributing musicians, creating theatrical and evocative soundscapes that defy genre and style, led by Elektrica’s unique creativity and personality.

True to her theatrical roots, Elektrica is a master of creating vivid worlds of sound, aided by her ability to sound great at the top or the bottom of the register. Elektrica’s music has elements of pop and rock, of theatricality and virtuosity, of storytelling and innovation –all united by her powerful and absolutely unmistakable voice. Elektrica is the model of the 21st-century New York singer, drawing on a diverse pool of sounds that spans the globe yet remaining essentially American.
