Saint Lucian Reggae Artiste Semi has a new focus and is now singing for the conscious at heart with his new brand of Inspirational Reggae.
The onset of 2013 has seen some major changes in Semi’s musical journey and none more so than
the release of his sensational new single “Look What Love Can Do”. This song is a peach of a song and represents what the reggae greats meant reggae to sound like both musically and lyrically. “Look What Love Can Do” has begun to gather interest from various sector of the music industry including national radio and stations as far as Canada, the UK and Australia. Off The Charts Radio (UK) presenter Jay Adkins was so impressed with the song that he recommended it to his friends at Deuce Management & Promotion, a UK based company who has now signed on to represent the artist in a promotional capacity.
Following the success of the singles “Love Is the Key” and “Better Days” in 2012, and the subsequent release of the acclaimed album “Conscious Paradise”; Semi has been busy on the national circuit including a stunning performance at Waterfront Jazz in 2012 as part of the St. Lucia Jazz Festival.
Semi’s songs are infused with lovers rock and traditional reggae styles, which bring pure refreshment to the ears and freedom to the soul. As a gifted writer himself, Semi is guided by the words, power and sounds of Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Steel Pulse and the vocal style of Jimmy Cliff, which when put together brings a taste of nothing less than pure Caribbean flavor. Semi is a visionary and believes that through participation we can remove obstacles to fulfilling our collective destiny. He is therefore an
artist who lives by what he sings and that love is at the heart of every song. Semi describes his music as inspirational reggae and that is what his music does to you. It lifts you up when you’re feeling down and motivates to set your feet on higher grounds.
In June 2010 he released “Love is the Key” the debut single off the album “Conscious Paradise” which topped the local charts peaking at number one. In October of the same year his second single “Better Days” off the same album was released. “Conscious Paradise” the album was produced by 22 year old Danyl Daniel of Daniel’s Den Studios of Gros Islet a supremely talented pianist and producer. This CD comprises eleven inspiring reggae songs delivered in Semi’s silky smooth vocal style – five of which were written by the artist. The album features an array of versatile and accomplished supporting artistes and musicians such as Linda “Chocolate” Berther”, Ronald “Boo” Hinkson, Barbara Cadet, Denzil Leon, Zack Popo and Nicky Pamphille. To date, with the release of Conscious Paradise, Semi has three albums to his name, including the previously released “Collections 1& 2” with executive producer Yves Lewis and a
string of hits including his chart topper “Put Yourself In My Place”.
In 2004, having spent time in the UK and the US, he returned home after recording and performing in Boston under the Wild Cubby music label. He set about purposing his music with conscious lyrics with an aim to stimulate positive thinking in all it gets in contact with. Since then Semi has performed alongside some of the best in the business including Sanchez, Gregory Isaacs, Culture, John Holt, Shaggy and Wyclef Jean.
Semi’s musical journey has taken him far and wide around the world. He gained national recognition with his band October 4 when he performed at the opening of the St. Lucia Jazz Festival in 2000. He’s acquired a wealth of experience as an artiste having worked the hotel, club and cruise ship circuits, which eventually in the early nineties led to international recognition as his migration along with the band Summit to the United Kingdom. Through the links of managers Pam and Paul Castle, the band Summit appeared on many high profile UK shows, one of them being the BBC’s Pebble Mill, and with the assistance of publisher David Most, the group signed a recording contract with RCA Records.

endearing smile, is a human being, and an artiste who has a deep love for humanity, and that as a result of his music gift, lives will be touched.

Today in America, the face of poverty has changed. No longer is it the homeless man under the L or the toothless woman on the corner who pleads with her eyes…and her cup. As America grapples with devastating economic times, the harsh reality is that the face of poverty is now sitting to your left, to your right, and possibly even in your very own home. Illness and injury know no socioeconomic status and no one is immune – the rich, the poor, the middle-class. Let us introduce a world where lives are changed despite the decline of governmental programs. Together we hope to challenge the stereotypical beliefs about those in need, and find sustainable ways to address healthcare in a failing economy.
While you had the opportunity to meet Mike Williams in the trailer, you will meet many more patients from vastly different backgrounds who share one common theme, all of them were denied access to or let down by our health care system and they were so close to simply giving up. You will walk along side us as you meet each patient – documenting who they are, where they come from and why the quest to maintain health and wellness has been a struggle. You will witness their commitment, their raw emotion, their accountability, their challenges and their successes.
What do you do when you are forced to choose between rent and food, between bus fare and medicine? How do you secure a future for yourself and your family when the pain you feel renders you completely disabled…or addicted? It is widely understood that in the United States of America, despite the promise of Obama Care, healthcare is not and will not be afforded to all Americans equally.
Watch as we follow Dr. Dan and Karla trekking to the Middle East where taking care of patients in refugee camps in Lebanon serves to fulfill the mission of serving those less fortunate yet remains as a means to keep their clinics open in the United States. See the irony when conditions in these camps and devastated countries are still superior to those found within the “safety net” health care system in the disparate areas of Chicago…where healthcare is often likened to a third world country.
Most critically however, the team hopes to leave a footprint, so that together we can build a foundation for future generations as we change the world…OnePatient at a time.

We will keep you posted on our progress every step of the way, including field reports from Lebanon in late June when our film crew will travel to the Middle East to film Dr. Dan working with the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF) to bring his medical expertise to the needs of the children living in refugee camps. Without these funds, we will NOT be able to make this trip happen!

LIBBY SPEARS
Along with Oprah Winfrey and Hillary Clinton, Libby was recently named one of 150 Women Who Shake the World by Newsweek Magazine. She is a filmmaker, whose work is based in social practice. Her process for creating is not simply making, but to employ art as a vehicle to bridge gaps and provide access to places and people that would otherwise never converge or be seen.
Libby is a director of both narrative and documentary work. Libby’s background in social issue filmmaking and commercial production has produced works for PSI in Nepal on water and sanitation, and IOM in Indonesia, on human trafficking in the aftermath of the tsunami. Libby has over 15 years producing and directing critically-acclaimed films that can be seen in more than 100 countries around the world.
Currently, she is in production of two documentaries, and in development of the feature length film on the Secret Court of 1920.
Her film Playground, produced by George Clooney and Steven Soderbergh, with animation created by Yoshitomo Nara, looks at the underground epidemic of young children being forced into prostitution in the United States. Playground premiered at the 2010 Tribeca Film Festival and has been critically acclaimed and screened around the world, including numerous times on Capitol Hill.
She was commissioned by Fox TV and America’s Most Wanted to produce and direct a 2-part series entitled ‘The Child Sex Trade in America” that aired in January 2011, and another episode on trafficking of children in Mexico that aired in June of 2012.
Libby’s past directing credits include FOREPLAY, a documentary film on the jazz band MEDESKI, MARTIN & WOOD, that premiered at the Seattle Film Festival, TIDE (starring Laurel Holloman) that premiered at Sundance, and a series of narrative shorts for Atom Films that were distributed globally.
Libby’s producer credits include SPRING FORWARD (Liev Schreiber, Ned Beatty), Bruno Coppola’s RULES OF LOVE (Judy Greer), PAGANS, IN SEARCH OF MICHAEL CIMINO for AMC, and Christopher Walken’s directorial debut, POPCORN SHRIMP, for Showtime Television.
Libby was the Film Festival Coordinator and Programmer for the Slamdance Film Festival. She was Production Coordinator for Propaganda Films/Satellite (Spike Jonze), and for Arcwelder Films’ award-winning documentary series BUILDINGS,BRIDGES, AND TUNNELS, ROBOTS RISING, and WINGS OVER THE GULF directed by Kurt Sayenga for Discovery.

Daniel T. Ivankovich, MD
- Co-founder and Consultant at OnePatient Global Health Initiative, Dr. Daniel Ivankovich is a graduate of Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine’s Honors program. A fellowship-trained orthopedic trauma surgeon and spine specialist Dr. Ivankovich attended top post-grad fellowship programs at RUSH (Adult Joint Reconstruction), Northwestern (Adult Spine Trauma) and the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (Spinal Cord Injury). As co-founder and consultant, Dr. Ivankovich’s primary role is to provide medical and clinical oversight to the Medical Services division of OnePatient Global Health Initiative. He’s seen over 100,000 patients and performed over 5,000 surgeries in some of the most disparate areas within the country. He is responsible for clinical compliance, musculoskeletal health and wellness, as well as healthcare policy creation and implementation.
Karla K. Carwile, MA, MA, LCPC, DCC
- President and co-founder of OnePatient Global Health Initiative, Ms. Karla Carwile is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, with a Psychology degree from the University of Illinois (UI-S) where she also teaches undergraduate Psychology. In addition, Karla has earned advanced degrees in Human Development Counseling and INO-Disability Studies (UI-S). In addition, Karla has completed graduate work in Educational Leadership and is completing a Doctorate of Philosophy degree in Psychology with special emphasis on the Biopsychosocial Aspects of Health. As co-founder and President, Karla’s primary role is to provide oversight for OnePatient Global Health Initiative. She is responsible for outreach programming, mental health assessment, overall strategic planning, financial and staff management, organizational development, program operations and clinical compliance.

In a time and place where beef and turf politics surround rap music, Sydal has been labeled a breath of fresh air by fans and artists alike. This is because Sydal, who came into the game making dis records about anybody he wasn’t feeling, did a complete 180 and refuses to take part in a practice that has forever held his city down in the industry. “Rap music used to thrive on beef, but the tables have turned. Fans want to hear good MUSIC, positive solutions and be entertained…not caught up in an issue that doesn’t concern them”. Sydal lives in a city that has been going through a constant power struggle, where everybody wants to be labeled the “king” of the city, and collaborations are few and far between. Emmanuel Díaz, Nació el 17 de Febrero del año 1992 en Queens, New York.
A muy temprana edad empezó a dar indicios de canto, pero no es hasta la edad de 8 años cuando realmente empieza a sentir el deleite, de ser escuchado por otros.
Habiéndose mudado con sus padres al estado de New Jersey específicamente a la ciudad de New Brunswick, ingresa a la escuela elemental Woodrow Wilson, donde decide querer participar del coro de la escuela, y es alli cuando su Maestra de Música Ms. Lucy Strauli, se maravilla con su voz.
En ese primer año obtiene el Privilegio de cantar como solista acompañado por el coro en el acostumbrado concierto de Navidad, el cual se celebra cada año en el State Teatre, cautivando a todo los asistentes al cantar Joyful l joyfull.
Luego de esta interversion la Maestra Strauli , lo recomienda para una beca pagada por el departamento de educación del estado de New Jersey para entrenar profesionalmente su voz, es aquí cuando se encuentra con la Maestra Ms.Margaret Trzeiack, una de las más reconocidas en el estado, y trabaja con ella por los siguiente tres años.
Durante este tiempo aprende todos los elementos básicos tanto en canto como en lectura musical, y empieza a participar en saxophone club, y Dance Club.
Durante los años 2004 al 2006, pasa a formar parte del Arts Middle School Choir, y en el 2005, y 2006, recibe el premio como Superior Musician.
Al completar sus estudios primarios sus padres deciden mudarse nuevamente a una pequeña ciudad del estado de New Jersey llamada Highland Park, Allí ingresa a la escuela secundaria e inmediatamente pasa a formar parte del coro de esta.
Decide probar suerte en el teatro de la escuela, y por cuatro años consecutivos obtiene papeles estelares en los diferentes musicales presentados allí cada ano Tales Como Footloose, Crazy for You, the Music Man, Bye Bye Birdie, and the Skin of Our Teeth
Durante este tiempo también forma parte del coro llamado Masters Singers, y del grupo vocal llamado Acappellics Anonymous, y en el año 2010, recibe el premio como Mejor Músico.
Al término de la secundaria decide seguir con su carrera musical, e ingresa al Middlesex County College, donde continúa su trayectoria en el aprendizaje de la música.
Para el final del año 2010 se empezaron a revisar una cantidad de ensayos que había anteriormente preparado con su Primo el arreglista, y compositor Isidro Santos. Esta búsqueda se hace al llegar la oportunidad de poder participar en la producción y realización de una producción Musical, Acto seguido y en acuerdo con la compañía Villarq Music & Entertainment, LLC ,se comienza el proceso de lo que hasta este momento es su primera producción musical POEMA NATURAL, donde tiene la oportunidad de usar sus cualidades como compositor, y se incluyen 2 temas de su auditoria; además de participar en la producción de la misma. El resto de las canciones son de la auditoria de Isidro Santos.
El primer sencillo de la produccion fue lanzado en Julio del 2011, titulado NADIE COMO TU, llegando a tener excelente aceptacion en el publico.
El Album Poema Natural fue completado a finales del mes de agosto del 2011, y el 14 de Septiembre del mismo ano fue lanzado en todos los medios digitales, y como disco fisico.
Por ser Manny de Origen Dominicano, la empresa Villarq Music, decidio hacer el lanzamiento oficial en Republica Dominicana, especificamente en CASA DE TEATRO, un escenario que ha sido cuna de muchas estrellas tanto nacionales como internacionales. El resultado fue excelente llenando el teatro a su capacidad, y dejando a todo el publico totalmente encantado.
Hasta el momento actual Manny Soundz, ha seguido teniendo presentaciones a nivel local en la ciudad de New York, asi como tambien participando en diferentes eventos en la comunidad.

Hailing from Philly, Chris Casso and Mike Thatcher met at a Vivid Video party in SoHo. Realizing they were from the same hometown, they found themselves ignoring all the Vivid Girls and debating things like “Beatles or Stones?” Deciding that they had a common vision for the future of rock music, they had no choice but to start a band! With Thatcher on guitar, and Casso on lead vocals, they recruited fellow Philadelphian’s Tom Walling on drums and Kjell Benner on bass and immediately began recording.
