One Patient

One Patient: where institutional corruption dictates how health care is allocated – leaving many with care likened to that of a third world country…if any.

20130417144921-onepatient3

A film by Libby Spears

A small team, without federal, state or county assistance has embarked upon a personal mission…to provide access to healthcare, regardless of ability to pay, without discrimination.

We hope that this film will provide a greater insight into the governmental and institutional corruption that dictates how healthcare is allocated – leaving many with care likened to that of a third world country…if any. This film seeks to call into question the inconsistencies in healthcare as it relates to those most at risk, the poor and un/underinsured.

Today in America, the face of poverty has changed. No longer is it the homeless man under the L or the toothless woman on the corner who pleads with her eyes…and her cup. As America grapples with devastating economic times, the harsh reality is that the face of poverty is now sitting to your left, to your right, and possibly even in your very own home. Illness and injury know no socioeconomic status and no one is immune – the rich, the poor, the middle-class. Let us introduce a world where lives are changed despite the decline of governmental programs. Together we hope to challenge the stereotypical beliefs about those in need, and find sustainable ways to address healthcare in a failing economy.

While you had the opportunity to meet Mike Williams in the trailer, you will meet many more patients from vastly different backgrounds who share one common theme, all of them were denied access to or let down by our health care system and they were so close to simply giving up. You will walk along side us as you meet each patient – documenting who they are, where they come from and why the quest to maintain health and wellness has been a struggle.  You will witness their commitment, their raw emotion, their accountability, their challenges and their successes.

What do you do when you are forced to choose between rent and food, between bus fare and medicine? How do you secure a future for yourself and your family when the pain you feel renders you completely disabled…or addicted? It is widely understood that in the United States of America, despite the promise of Obama Care, healthcare is not and will not be afforded to all Americans equally.

Watch as we follow Dr. Dan and Karla trekking to the Middle East where taking care of patients in refugee camps in Lebanon serves to fulfill the mission of serving those less fortunate yet remains as a means to keep their clinics open in the United States. See the irony when conditions in these camps and devastated countries are still superior to those found within the “safety net” health care system in the disparate areas of Chicago…where healthcare is often likened to a third world country.

Most critically however, the team hopes to leave a footprint, so that together we can build a foundation for future generations as we change the world…OnePatient at a time.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

If you aren’t able to contribute financially, you can still help!

SHARE the project with your friends and family. SPREAD the word on social media sites.

WHERE THE $ IS GOING

We already have 25% of our filming done and now we need $100,000 enabling us to continue to edit the footage we have already shot, and to continue filming. Your money will go toward production, editing, and appeals for the additional funds to complete the project. We will keep you posted on our progress every step of the way, including field reports from Lebanon in late June when our film crew will travel to the Middle East to film Dr. Dan working with the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF) to bring his medical expertise to the needs of the children living in refugee camps. Without these funds, we will NOT be able to make this trip happen!

WISH LIST: If we raise more than $100,000 we can make the film even better. More money means more time in the field and in the edit room, giving us greater production quality.

Music producer JDVisionquest3000

JDVisionquest3000 is a music producer, recording artist, and songwriter interested in the future of music, music production, and working with talented artists and performers. JD has many music credits in film and t.v., and has worked with independent and signed artists since 2008. Also since 2008 JD has worked with Ohio hip hop artist Nate Sylak, who he signed to a production deal. Starting in 2012, JD will be launching the 3000 Music imprint, for which Sylak will be the flagship artist.
“As a music producer in the modern age my main duties include providing the artist with songs/beats that move and motivate them to perform to their greatest ability. Once the song is written my job is to make sure it is recorded with all the latest technology, so the song can sonically keep up with the never ending trends that have become common in today’s music production. After the song is recorded, my job is to make sure the mixing, arranging, and mastering is done properly so what the listener hears is a professional sound. At times my role as producer also includes the packaging and promotion of the artist.

This can include photo shoots, artwork, design and coordinating the physical release of the final product. Sometimes my duties will extend to promoting the release in the media/press to drive sales. The end result is a song that has the largest number of possibilities including digital sales and downloads, placement in film/t.v. and other forms of licensing such as web, commercial and compilations.”–JDVQ3000

NATE SYLAK – LOCOMOTIVE (BRINGIN’ THE PAIN)-Official Music Video

Ali Baba

Hailing from Tunisia, the northernmost country in Africa, emcee Ali Baba is well on his way to staking his claim in hip-hop and making his mark in the US, and the world to follow. His real name is Ali Abbou, he moved to the states at the age of 12 where his friends and family first called him Ali Baba after the main character in the famous Arabic story of Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves. The nickname stuck since then to present day being his emcee moniker. When he first moved to the US it was so he could attend the Palmer Tennis Academy in Tampa, Florida, one of the best tennis academies in the world. Once graduated from the Palmer Academy, he moved to California to attend college. As he got older, his affinity for hip-hop music grew from the rawness and realness he heard in it. It resembled the struggles that his people continue to go through to this day. Those struggles have culminated in the Tunisian revolution that is being fought by his people today. The demonstrations in his home country were precipitated by poor living conditions, high unemployment, inflation, political corruption, lack of freedom of speech and other political freedoms–all reasons that inspire hip-hop lyrics, and inspire Ali to express his point of view. He feels he can deliver a great message to the world through his music, and be able to touch people’s hearts and minds. Ali’s music is a relief for the negative in the world and a positive expression for people to hear. The ability to express his opinions and feelings is one of the main reasons why Ali first got into making music in the first place. After listening to legends such as 2Pac, Eminem, and Lil’ Wayne, a greater energy was created inside of Ali to motivate him to write more and more. That energy has propelled him to create his own style and personality that is different from any artist in the same profession. With his Moulouk Music Group in effect, Ali’s ultimate goal is to work really hard every day to improve as an artist, and deliver great music that people can enjoy and relate to. Ali Baba is conquering the forty thieves with dedication to his craft, be on the lookout for his imprint coming soon to an airwave near you hitting your ear drum.

Cocky Da Homo MC Gets His Dubstep On With New Rap Anthem

“Real men like d**k, wanna know why?” controversial rapper Cocky da Homo MC asks rhetorically on the refrain of his new dubstep jam “Real Men,” available for sale online on both his Reverbnation and Bandcamp websites. “The Law of Attraction states ‘like attracts like,’ so if you like p***y then you are a p***y, aight? If you out the f****’n closet like me. throw your hands up high!” Sure to become this summer’s gay club anthem, the 3-minute banger, produced by Persis and mixed by Cocky himself, also includes a fiery 45-second introduction aimed at the online hip hop community which by-and-large has rejected and villified the homosexual rapper ever since he first came onto the scene with his first mixtape in March of this year. “In 50 years, you’ll be the rednecks and the Anglos. History repeats itself,” Cocky retorts, “you bozos, I’m the Negro here, stop discriminating, homos.”
